I have mine in my garage and I did put regular household NON scented bleach in the water I put 1/4 cup in each barrel and I've been told that was too much BUT I do NOT have any mold growing in mine. My parents on the other hand have theirs on the back patio and didn't use enough bleach and the mold growing inside the barrels is CRAZY!!! Store them OUT OF SUNLIGHT!!! Mine have been together for 12 months now and no issues!! Hope this helps goodluck!!

Storing water is a very good idea. An easy way to store the 55 gal Water Barrel is on it's side. I built a rack to hold six barrels. The barrels can be linked together with 3/4" hose, making it easy to fill and drain all barrels at the same time. Anyway, if you want to see the rack, click on my name and check out the uploaded video. There are three videos. Part 1 shows how to set up the barrels, Part 2, how to build the rack, and Part 3 how to link the barrels together.
