I have friends down in Venezuela. They are going through very hard times. What they really need is not what you think. They want antacids, diapers baby and adult, birth control and pads and tampons. Never barter your food. Liquor and cigarettes were not on their list. The antacids were the main thing since the water supply goes south. Pepto Bismo would be popular too. And last but not least toilet paper.

Excellent ideas! Hadn't thought about the tiny booze bottles for barter! I should add a couple of those to my get home bag (not for barter) for sanitizer and pain relief, now that I think about it…

I keep cash on hand just in case I can't get any from my bank accounts and I keep it spread out so I have some regardless of the vehicles I have with me. I also have items which I could barter with if needed too beginning with personal items in the home, and farm, and lawn equipment, and supplies. In case of an emergency I have about all that I would need for an extended period of time and hope others are doing the same thing.
