Like al the silly dudes who think when the SHTF they will move up to the mountains and live on elk meat…I will find their cold dead bodies and take their gear and move along. Guns and seeds don't matter…

I think I'll avoid the woods. Will be full of loonies anxious to play with their guns and prepper tools. No safe places really. Hard to find people to trust when away from extended family. Neighbors not friendly/rarely come outdoors. People want to be left alone. It probably will be more the hungry or thieving roving gangs that are a threat.

    John,
God calls on us to use our wisdom, and His wisdom should be telling us to be prepared. But preparing has many connotations; such as having some cash money set aside … decent insurance … ways to keep our homes and property safe … ways to provide for our families… you name it.
If that makes me a “tin-foil hat” type of guy, so be it. IMO, Preparing for what may come is generally no laughing matter.
As a believer, I recognize the world will generally decline until the Lord returns. If you believe in the rapture, we have no way of knowing what we may have to live through or endure before the rapture occurs. If you don’t believe in the rapture, then I expect we’ll have to endure nightmarish times ahead.
Suicide is not an option. Will you also end the lives of your family? If not, then sensible and adequate preparing is not an option.
As far as sharing what you have with others, will you take food from your children’s mouths to help others? What if those strangers you help come back with others to take what you have rather than just beg for another can of beans?
Desperate times turn even law abiding citizens into murderers and thieves.
Prep sensibly and soberly. Four months worth buys you next to nothing. When those four months pass, nothing will be available anymore. Nothing. Then what?
Four things are necessary to survive; potable water, food (and a way to prepare it), adequate shelter from weather extremes, and security.
You have the security part whupped. Now take care of the other three priorities.
Best wishes and thanks for an awesome channel!

We always gave away our C-Rations for local food but when out in the back woods we had to eat that stuff and we knew how to make it better with a little chef Boyardee tips LOL or Julia Childs cooking tips but we made them better where we could get by with them, our names were like Beans and Boulders, Rocks and Hand grenades, Ranger Pudding, Specops cake, slime and puke and many others LOL.

My two cents: also check out bulk dried food providers like http://www.webstaraunt.com and http://www.americanspice.com. Load up on powdered eggs, powdered milk, salt, sugar, flour, etc. Don't forget nuts, fried fruits and preserves, beans, rice, and oats. Foraging native plants and growing crops will replace or supplement foods, but if you don't know how to make salt or sugar, better store up now.

Almost everything after the fact is to add water.

Note that most freeze dried products are really heavy in sodium. I eat them all the time wilderness backpacking but they are fine since I'm usually sweating my a** off from hiking.
